UNZIP and ZIP for DOS
Re-join split .ZIP Archives and "tarballs"
(DOS and Windows)
DJE Systems Links
These files are "freeware" - that is, free software that you can use, abuse, modify, copy, re-distribute, ...
Notice, however, that this means that there is NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND and NO SUPPORT - you are entirely on your own. Use these files at your own risk!
All freeware files are provided as compressed .ZIP archives. You'll need the freeware UNZIP for DOS. You can get UNZIP and ZIP for OpenVMS right here on the DJE Systems site. You can also get them for OpenVMS from Hunter Goatley's FILESERV site, and for any supported platform (including FreeBSD, DOS and Windows) from the InfoZip "home" site.
A "README" file is provided in each freeware archive to explain the contents and how to use each one.
Re-join split .ZIP Archives and "tar-balls" (DOS and Windows)
This .ZIP archive contains a pair of batch (.BAT) files for DOS and Windows (use in a DOS window).
CATZIPS.BAT is for re-joining the pieces of split .ZIP archives. The files do not need to appear in the directory in any special order, CATZIPS.BAT will seek each piece in sequence (.ZAA, .ZAB, etc.). The resulting file is RENamed with a .ZIP extension.
CAT_TGZS.BAT is for re-joining the pieces of split "tar-balls" (GnuZIPped tar archives). The files do not need to appear in the directory in any special order, CAT_TGZS.BAT will seek each piece in sequence (.AA, .AB, etc.). The resulting file is RENamed with a .TGZ extension.
Caveat:
Because these procedures use only DOS commands (COPY, REN, etc.), they do contribute quite heavily to disk fragmentation. This is V2 of these procedures. V1 was used internally within DJE Systems. Steps were taken after V1 to reduce the number of COPYs that occur, both for speed and to lessen the fragmentation that they cause.
