    The purpose of this system is to provide yet another forum in which
    VMS Systems Professionals can exchange information, locate public
    domain and shareware programs for VMS Systems, and locate public
    domain and shareware programs for MS-DOS, Windows and other operating
    systems that may be used in conjuction with VMS-based VAX and AXP 
    systems.

    The SYS$COMMAND BBS also has the very unique purpose of providing an
    opportunity to have access to public domain software and freeware
    which might not otherwise be available, except by having one's own
    access to the Internet.

    SYS$COMMAND, being based here in the midwest, also allows access to
    files, programs and procedures for VMS without the expense of a long-
    distance call or subscription to more expensive services which have
    on-line time charges or fees for downloads.
